The Survival exhibit showcases the incredible diversity and adaptations of arthropods, the most successful group of animals on Earth. With over 80% of all known animal species belonging to the phylum Arthropoda, these creatures have conquered every habitat on the planet through ingenious strategies for survival.

As you walk through the exhibit, you will encounter dozens of species displayed in naturalistic habitats that replicate environments from deserts and rainforests to caves and grasslands. Each habitat tells a story of evolutionary adaptation, from the armor-like exoskeletons of beetles to the silk-spinning mastery of spiders.

Meet Rosie

Rosie is Butterfly Pavilion's beloved Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula and one of the most popular animal ambassadors in Colorado. Visitors have been holding Rosie since the Pavilion first opened its doors, and she remains a gentle, hands-on introduction to the fascinating world of arachnids. Rosie is available to hold during Creature Feature programs throughout the day.
