Butterfly Pavilion strives to create a welcoming and accessible experience for all visitors. Our facility complies with ADA standards, and we offer a variety of accommodations to ensure guests of all abilities can enjoy our exhibits and programs. If you need additional assistance during your visit, our staff is happy to help.

Accessibility Services & Amenities

To support guests with sensory sensitivities, we offer:

  • Noise-canceling headphones (available upon request)
  • Weighted vests
  • A designated quiet area located in the Colorado Backyard exhibit

These resources are available throughout the day. Simply ask a staff member for assistance.

On the last Wednesday of each month, Butterfly Pavilion hosts Sensory Friendly Afternoons designed for guests who benefit from a quieter and more relaxed environment.

During these events you can expect:

  • Reduced attendance
  • Natural lighting
  • Lower noise levels
  • Guided interpretation in exhibits
  • Optional activity guides
  • Access to the playroom

Our facility is fully ADA compliant and designed to accommodate mobility needs.

  • Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome throughout the facility
  • Wheelchairs are available to borrow at the front desk (valid ID required)

If you need assistance accessing exhibits or experiences, staff members are available to help.

Butterfly Pavilion offers daily animal encounters.

If a guest cannot easily access these experiences, a staff member can bring the animals to you so you can still participate.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome at Butterfly Pavilion.

In accordance with ADA guidelines:

  • Only dogs or miniature horses qualify as service animals
  • Service animals must remain under the handler's control at all times
  • Disruptive, aggressive, or unhousebroken animals may be asked to leave

Emotional support or therapy animals are not permitted inside the facility but may accompany guests in the outdoor garden areas.

Accessibility Facilities

All-Gender Restroom

An all-gender restroom is available in the Colorado Backyard exhibit. It is open to all guests who prefer or require a private restroom option.

First Aid

First Aid kits and AED machines are available onsite.

If medical assistance is needed, please notify a staff member immediately. Staff cannot administer medication to guests.

Accessible Adult Ticket

Butterfly Pavilion offers discounted admission options to help ensure everyone can enjoy a visit.

Accessible Adult Ticket
Adults with intellectual disabilities receive $8 admission.

Caretakers and Nurses
Caretakers or nurses assisting a guest receive free admission.

These tickets are available at the front desk upon arrival.

Getting Here

Parking

Butterfly Pavilion offers free onsite parking, including accessible parking, oversized spots for larger vehicles or trailers, and overflow parking.

Parking onsite is limited – in the event that our main lot is full, Butterfly Pavilion guests are also welcome to utilize free offsite parking at the Westin Westminster or the Armed Forces Tribute Garden.

Public Transit

Guests can reach Butterfly Pavilion via public transit. The Flatiron Flyer from Denver or Boulder stops at US 36 & Church Ranch Station, about a 15-minute walk away, with buses running every 15 minutes Monday–Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sundays.
