Additional Ways to Volunteer

Volunteer for Community Science

Love the outdoors? Care about the environment? Join one of our Community Science projects. Grab a friend or bring the whole family and help our scientists on a nature adventure that benefits Colorado communities — and helps save nature's tiny giants.

A Service Enterprise Organization

Butterfly Pavilion is certified as a Service Enterprise — an organization that fundamentally leverages volunteer talent to deliver on its social mission. Our volunteers are fully integrated into our team, making us more adaptable, sustainable, and impactful.

Applications Are Open

The current application window closes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2nd. New Volunteer Orientation will be held at Butterfly Pavilion on Saturday, March 21st from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Important: Attendance at the March 21st orientation is required. If you cannot attend, we won't be able to consider your application this cycle — please submit an interest form instead so we can notify you when the next round opens.

Next cycle: Applications reopen in June, with a mandatory orientation on July 26th.

Colorado Butterfly Monitoring Network

Join one of Colorado's longest-running community science programs. CBMN volunteers monitor butterfly populations across the Front Range, contributing data that helps scientists track species health, habitat quality, and the effects of climate change. Whether you're an experienced naturalist or just getting started, we'll give you the tools and training to make a real impact.

All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Some positions carry additional age restrictions or training requirements. Every volunteer must complete a background check, attend orientation, and pay a one-time onboarding fee of $25. Butterfly Pavilion does not offer court-ordered community service placements.
