Our interpretive specialists lead engaging programs throughout the day. All programs are included with general admission and subject to change based on animal welfare and staffing.

Butterfly Encounter

Location: Wings of the Tropics
Times: Daily, 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Watch as newly emerged butterflies fly for the very first time and discover more about butterflies, rainforests, at Butterfly Pavilion!

Leafcutter Ant Feeding

Location: Legacies
Times: Once a day, daily

Step into the world of leaf cutter ants! Discover how these incredible insects grow their own gardens to feed their colonies.

Junior Naturalist

Calling all young nature explorers! Discover the world of invertebrates and conservation with the Junior Naturalist Adventure Guide at Butterfly Pavilion.

Kids can explore exhibits, complete fun activities, and earn a certificate and button along the way. The guide is available at the Front Desk or online in advance.

Butterfly Quest

Butterfly Quest is a unique opportunity to assist with Butterfly Pavilion research, while exploring the world of animal behavior.

Help observe tagged butterflies, record meaningful data, and share your discoveries — all on your phone. By scanning the QR codes in Wings of the Tropics and participating in Butterfly Quest, you are helping our scientists shape animal welfare here and in zoos around the world!
